Solution is as follows.open your dvd/COD2DVD directory on the dvd-rom, then open the DEViANCE folder and copy the CoD2SP_s shortcut to the folder where cod2 is installed on your pc, easiest way to find it is to select the shortcut for single player on your desktop then RIGHT-CLICK and select OPEN FILE LOCATION, then just DELETE the cod2sp_s single player shortcut and PASTE in the shortcut you copied from the dvd by RIGHT-CLICKING and selecting PASTE.
